Official abstract

The Department of Homeland Security is giving concurrent notice of an updated system of records pursuant to the Privacy Act of 1974 for the Department of Homeland Security United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and Customs and Border Protection--001 Alien File, Index, and National File Tracking system of records and this proposed rulemaking. In this proposed rulemaking, the Department proposes to exempt portions of the system of records from one or more provisions of the Privacy Act because of criminal, civil, and administrative enforcement requirements. The legacy final rule (28 CFR 16.99) exempting the Immigration and Naturalization Service A-File and Central Index System, JUSTICE/INS- 001A legacy system of records from certain portions of the Privacy Act remains in effect until publication of a final rule for this system by the Department.
